YARD GRADING & LEVELING IN SAN ANTONIO

CAT compact track loader grading a residential landscape project in San Antonio

Regrading, Resloping and Site Prep Done Right

Hole In One Lawns regrades and levels yards across San Antonio and the Texas Hill Country. We reshape the ground so water drains away from your home, fix low spots and uneven lawns, and prepare a flat, compacted base for patios, turf, sod, putting greens and sport courts. Our crews run their own compact track loaders and grading equipment, so the work is done in-house from start to finish.

Grading and Leveling Services

  • Foundation regrading: sloping soil away from the house so rainwater does not sit against the slab.
  • Resloping and low-spot repair: fixing areas where water pools after rain or where the yard has settled.
  • Yard leveling: smoothing bumpy, uneven lawns before new sod or artificial turf.
  • Site prep for hardscapes: excavating, grading and compacting base for paver patios, concrete patios and walkways.
  • Sport court and putting green pads: level, compacted pads for pickleball, padel and basketball courts and putting greens.
  • Sloped yards: terracing steep yards with retaining walls to create usable, flat space.
  • Drainage add-ons: French drains, catch basins and dry creek beds when grading alone cannot move the water. See our yard drainage solutions.

How a Grading Project Works

  1. Site assessment. We walk the yard, look at where water comes from and where it needs to go, and check slopes and soil.
  2. Plan and quote. You get a clear scope and price, and for larger projects a 3D/2D design.
  3. Utility locates. We call 811 before any digging so buried lines are marked.
  4. Grade and compact. Soil is cut, filled, shaped and compacted to the planned slope.
  5. Finish. The graded area is finished with sod, turf, rock, mulch, beds or a hardscape, so it does not wash out.

Signs Your Yard Needs Regrading

  • Water pools near your foundation or patio after rain.
  • Mulch, rock or soil washes onto the sidewalk or driveway.
  • Soggy areas that stay wet for days, or bare spots where nothing grows.
  • A bumpy, uneven lawn that is hard to mow or walk on.
  • A sloped yard you cannot use for a patio, turf or play area.

Yard Grading FAQ

What is the difference between grading and drainage?
Grading reshapes the ground so water flows the right way on the surface. Drainage adds systems like French drains or catch basins to carry water away. Many yards need both.

Can you level my yard before installing sod or turf?
Yes. We level and compact the base first so new sod or artificial turf lies flat and drains properly.

How much does yard grading cost in San Antonio?
It depends on the size of the area, how much soil has to be moved or brought in, and access for equipment. We give you a clear price after a site assessment.

Do you call 811 before digging?
Yes. Utility locates are requested before any grading or excavation starts.

Can you make a sloped backyard usable?
Yes. We terrace slopes with retaining walls and regrade the levels to create flat space for a patio, turf or play area.
