How We Build a Retaining Wall
- Assess. We look at the slope, soil (Hill Country rock or San Antonio clay), where water runs and how tall the wall needs to be.
- Design. Wall layout, levels, steps and planting are drawn in your 3D design.
- Excavate and base. We dig the footing trench and compact a crushed-stone base so the first course sits level.
- Build and drain. Courses go up with drainage aggregate and drain pipe behind them, and geogrid where the height calls for it.
- Backfill and cap. Soil is compacted in layers and the wall is capped.
- Finish. Beds, sod, turf or a patio go in on the new level ground.
